Jessie Martin

Program Director for Community Engagement

Jessie was born in the woods of Northern Maine and came to Seattle via New York City. She’s equally at home trekking deep into the backcountry or across town for the best dumplings. With over a decade of experience in stakeholder engagement and systems design, she directs Earth Economics’ community engagement program, helping to translate urban and rural communities' self-identified priorities into resilient and equitable solutions. She has worked with local groups on issues that range from food justice to solar energy siting, and her research has spanned topics from the economic and environmental justice impacts of soil contamination to the socioeconomic drivers of global seed trade. She leverages her experience with both quantitative and qualitative methods in her projects to inform her analyses with real world experiences, resulting in practical tools that maximize impact and are easy to use. And she really hopes the Mariners will make the play-offs in her lifetime.
