While forests provide over twenty-three ecological services, current forest management tends to focus on only one service - timber production. As a result, significant amounts of value are being lost.
Earth Economics is working with academic, government, small business and environmental partners to gain a more accurate picture of the services forested watersheds produce. Our current focus in this ecological services assessment is the Pacific Northwest regions of the Carbon River Valley , the Duwamish waterway, and Maury Island . The assessment also has significant applications and implications for forested watersheds in other regions around the world.
