2005 USSEE Conference

Forging Solutions:
Applying Ecological Economics to Current Problems

 

Conference Dates: July 20-23, 2005

The 2005 US Society for Ecological Economics Conference was a great success with hundreds of attendees from around the world representing academic, non-profit, government and corporate sectors. The event was hosted by Earth Economics, a non-profit social change organization focused on the application of ecological economics, in the City of Tacoma, Washington.

This world-class conference highlighted the connection between cutting-edge theory and innovative action through trans-disciplinary lenses by featuring the following events:

  • keynote speeches and plenary sessions
  • academic paper presentations and poster sessions
  • workshops focused on specific issue and topics
  • clinics for consultations with experts
  • field trips featuring local applications and projects
  • press events with event highlights and outcomes

This conference explored and expanded on academic projects and case studies by looking into applications ecological economics. Emerging from this were practical solutions to current problems faced by governments, policy advocates, environmentalists, and businesses.
