VISION 2020 Award - Salmon Habitat Planning and Action!

This year's VISION 2020 Award recognized the collaboration between the Salmon Habitat Recovery Team of the Green/Duwamish and Central Puget Sound Watershed (WRIA 9) and Earth Economics.

The award was created to recognize projects in the Puget Sound region that have successfully helped to implement VISION 2020's comprehensive regional growth, economic, and transportation plan. Award recipients were recognized at the Puget Sound Regional Council's annual General Assembly.

Making Our Watershed Fit for a King: Green/Duwamish and Central Puget Sound Watershed Water Resource Inventory Area (WRIA) 9.

This plan was recognized for a targeted strategy for recovering the threatened Green/Duwamish River salmon population in concert with other community and growth management objectives.

Particular note was made to highlight Chapter 6 [254KB PDF] of the report, prepared by Earth Economics, that links strategic investment in salmon habitat to the general livability of watershed communities.
